This class offers beginning instruction on playing the 5-string banjo, with an emphasis on basic three-finger (bluegrass or “Scruggs” technique). We will also look at chord playing and accompaniment styles for singing songs. We will learn to read tablature, learn open (first) position chords in the most common keys, basic accompaniment techniques, right hand roll patterns and applications, playing a melody and putting rolls and melody together for simple solo playing.
Must be 21 & over. BYO beer or wine (no liquor) & BYO guitar (or communicate in advance if you need help finding or borrowing one).
No prior experience required or expected.
